Website Backup

While the server your site is hosted on is backed up regularly, this backup is only intended for restoring the complete server, and not intended for restoring individual sites and/or files.

We highly recommend that your organisation performs regular backups of your website, so that information can be restored if your site is lost or currupted in anyway.

There are two critical backups you'll need to do. Firstly the website files and images, and secondly your database which stores your website data. Below are step by step instuctions to perform both operations.

Files and Images Backup (In the Partial Backups Section)

  • Under the Home Directory heading, select Download a home directory Backup
  • Select Save to store the backup in a folder on your computer (or in business environments on your network server)

Database Backup (In the Partial Backups Section)

  • Under Download a MySQL Database Backup select the hyperlink pointing to your database (if you have more than one database listed here you will need to complete this step for each)
  • Select Save to store the backup in a folder on your computer
