Setting up FTP Account access to a directory

  • Login to your Hosting Control Panel
  • Click on FTP Accounts in the Files Section
  • Login: Enter a login name
    i.e. if you are giving access to a photographer, you could enter photographer.  Their ftp username would be photographer@your-domain.co.nz
  • Password: Enter a password
  • Directory: This will assign automatically to the same as the username. 
    i.e. if the username was photographer, the directory they will be given access to would be /photographer/
    IMPORTANT: Always enter a directory.  If you remove this, you will give them access to the root folder of your account, and be able to see all the files of your website.
  • Quota: Allows you to assign how much data they will be able to upload. 

A warning about deleting an FTP Account:
You can delete an FTP account at anytime, but when asked whether you want to delete the user, the folder and the data, ensure you have copied the data to your computer first.

WARNING: IF DELETING A USER THAT HAS ROOT LEVEL ACCESS - NEVER SELECT THE DELETE USER, FOLDER & FILES - AS THIS WILL DELETE YOUR ENTIRE WEBSITE.
