COMMON QUESTION:
What's the difference between 'Visits' and 'Hits'?
Visits is how many unique people have visited your site, and is the primary figure that is most meaningful.
A "hit" is not a visitor to the web site, but a hit on the web server. A hit on the web server includes the main website file, and other elements linked to that page like images. So, if your site has 9 small images on the first page, every visitor to the site registers as 10 hits on the server (9 images plus the main website page file).
